These are my reasons why you should not buy the HTC M9. Just keep in mind though that these are not definitive reasons and I’m not saying that the M9 is the worst phone in the world never to buy. Let’s start.
Reason №1 – Evolution
At first glance the M9 looks extremely to the M8 which is not a bad thing, but a lot of people are getting upset of HTC for only making incremental changes to their flagships. Front-facing it looks almost identical to the M8, and the back we can see a key difference – the camera (I’ll get to it later). In my opinion the M9 just looks like a M8+ and you won’t really be able to tell the difference. On the side we do have a bit of a button displacement, the power button is now on the side.
Reason №2 – The Camera
The M9 has dropped the dual camera setup, to a single camera set up. It no longer has the Ultra-Pixel sensor, it is now a 20 MP rear-facing camera. And on the front actually still has the Ultra-Pixel, and that is to help in low-light. Getting back to the rear-facing camera, this is one of the biggest let downs for a flagship smartphone. It does record 4k video now, but I’m not too impressed. For the pictures – I find the very washed out. I had much better results on the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6.
Reason №3 – Battery Life
And for me this has to be the biggest deal-breaker. It only has 2840 mAh battery, and that means it doesn’t last all day. If you are heavy user, you’ll notice that the battery life on the M9 drains incredibly fast. If doesn’t last all day what is the point of having a nice phone if it doesn’t even stay on.
Reason №4 – Display
In a world where specs do matter, especially in the Android world, unfortunately the HTC One M9 does fall short on its display. It’s only 1920×1080 with a pixel density of 441. Other phones from last year even had Quad HD displays.
Reason №5 – Overheating
The M9 does get really hot, especially after you use it for a while. Let’s say you are playing a lot of games or watching videos, it does get noticeably hotter in your hand, and sometimes to the point weird and uncomfortable to hold in hands. I know this might not be a deal-breaker, but just keep this somewhere floating around in the back of your mind.
Conclusion
So these are my 5 reasons why you should not grab the HTC One M9. Just keep these things in mind before you buy it.
