Docking stations are super handy for having at home or at the office if your primary computer is a laptop or ultrabook. They allow you to save yourself the hassle of plugging in and then unplugging multiple devices from your laptop, and actually allow you to use more simultaneously via the extra USB ports.

With a docking station, you can plug in and use more than one monitor with your laptop, while also having things like an external hard drive, external keyboard, and optical mouse all plugged in. Some models support 4K output and don’t reduce or interfere with the quality of the display being transmitted from the laptop, through the dock, and into the monitors. But for gamers, make sure to check on the refresh rate that your docking station is capable of.

Brand Specific vs Universal Docking Stations

Many docking devices are brand specific, so be sure that your notebook is compatible with the one you’ve picked out before buying it. There are plenty of universal options, so when in doubt, stick with one of those. As long as their specs match, their functionality should be the same.

Docking stations usually include a software disc, but don’t worry if your laptop doesn’t have a disc drive. You should be able to download the necessary software from the manufacturer’s website for free by inputting the model number on the bottom of your dock or on the packaging.

The following are the top 5 docking stations for laptops and ultrabooks based on features offered and value for the money. Pick up one of these and you’ll be able to transform your notebook computer into a fully functioning desktop replacement.

These days, a portable charger or power bank is pretty much essential. Compared to the immense energy consuming power today’s smart phones have, their batteries are pretty meager. Many devices don’t even last a full day with regular use. If you’re a power user, a portable charger is the only answer to your smart phone’s weak battery.

Ideally, your portable charger should be compact yet have a high mAh capacity. Price may also be of concern, so consider getting something you can afford that is either pocketable or can easily fit into a purse. If you have to share it with other people whose phone has a different kind of charger than you, then you should choose something with both types of connectivity.

Check out this list of the top five portable chargers on the market right now.

Everyone who owns a computer should have an external hard drive. It’s a great way to keep your files backed up and also make them more portable. Unlike cloud storage, you can have access to a huge amount of storage space without paying a monthly or yearly fee.

With solid state drives becoming more and more prevalent, you can get an external hard drive with a huge amount of storage space for pretty cheap. For less than $100 dollars, you buy an external drive with up to 2 TB. That’s more space than the average person will ever need.

In this list we’ll run through the five best options on the market that have a price tag not exceeding $100. Here we go.

This is very convenient for sharing files or portions of your library with friends. If you have a certain amount of important files that you need on hand, the cloud storage is fantastic.

The Seagate mobile device includes backup software that makes the process of transferring your files that much easier. The Seagate transfers files at a very snappy rate with USB 3.0.It’s a very good size, very fast, and packed a lot of storage space for a good price. What else can you ask for? At around $70, this is definitely one of the best options out there, if not THE best.

It comes in black, white, blue or red and includes a three-year warranty. costs around $90, which is a good deal for two terabytes of storage in general, but especially from a quality, dependable brand.

Toshiba makes really great, durable hard drives. This 2TB model is by no means an exception. It doesn’t require any software to be installed in order to run. It was built with an internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to keep your hard drive safe and in working order. The shock protection helps protect your drive against drops and accidental bumps, but it’s still advised to keep your Canvio Basics in a case as with any of the other above hard drives.

The Toshiba Canvio Basics is compatible with virtually any Windows system. There is an app included on the drive that allows Mac OSX usage. The Canvio Basics comes in black and includes a one-year warranty. It costs only around $80.

Throwing it across the room at the wall is not recommended, but it would likely be fine. It is MILITARY GRADE. That means it’s designed for the roughest conditions a hard drive can go through.

Despite its armored body, the Silicon Power Rugged Armor A80 is still relatively thin and easily pocket-able. It’s designed with a compartment in the side to conveniently stash away your cable for its USB 3.0 connection. It also includes the free SP Widget that has several features that may come in handy when downloading files or storing them for later. The Rugged Armor A80 comes in blue and costs approximately $70.

The Samsung brand is renowned for quality and dependability. If you’re buying a Samsung, no matter what it may be, it’s almost guaranteed to be good. That reputation isn’t undeserved.

This easily portable external hard drive copies files quickly and stores them safely for later use. That’s all it really needs to do, and it does that well. It also includes a bonus auto backup program that can easily be switched on and off to keep your hard drive up to date with your local files. It is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac. It comes in black and costs around $100.

Brands to avoid

Dane Elec

Dane Elec makes very cheap external hard drives that are prone to dying unexpectedly. If longevity is of concern when buying your new external hard drive (as it should be), avoid super budget brands that don’t offer the protection against crashing out that more quality brands may have.

Apple has released a new battery case for the iPhone 6 and 6s. The 6 and 6s suffer from less than sufficient battery life, unlike the 6 Plus and 6s Plus which tend to last through the day. Though Apple’s new iPhone case seems to work quite well, it has a few major flaws.

First of all, its appearance is unconventional to say the least. Some people may not mind the protruding rectangular lump on the back side of the case, but it’s undeniably goofy looking. It’s just an unnatural shape. Maybe if the added battery housed in the case covered the entire back of the device, it wouldn’t be so awkward looking. This is a bit of a blunder for Apple. Apple is known for having sleek, fine looking products that are always aesthetically pleasing. For many, Apple products are the best on the market. Let’s face it though, you can take one glance at this thing and know it’s not the best battery case available.

Let’s not judge the iPhone Smart Battery Case without acknowledging its advantages. It integrates with your iPhone, which is one of its redeeming qualities. You can view the remaining battery power by sliding down your notification panel. Though there is no LED battery indicator on the exterior of the case, it’s not totally necessary as you can view the power gauge within the phone.

The Smart Battery Case charges using Apple’s proprietary lightning port instead of a micro USB like all other battery cases. That is very convenient. There’s a charge indicator placed inside the case, which can’t be seen while the phone is harnessed by the case, so it’s pretty much useless.

The area around the headphone jack on the case does not dip in to allow all types of headphones to be inserted. If you have a nice pair of headphones that you want to keep using that won’t fit while the Smart Battery Case is in place, you won’t be able to. This inconvenience could be a deal breaker altogether. Apple’s proprietary headphones fit fine of course.

Now, let’s look at what’s really important about this case—the battery. Apple claims that this case will allow 25 hours of talk time and 15 hours of LTE data. Compared to Apple’s stock battery limit, the Smart Battery Case offers 11 and 5 additional hours respectively. The Smart Battery Case has a 1877 mAh battery and costs around $100. That’s not a very good value considering that you can get a 2850 mAh battery case from Anker Ultra for $40 that doesn’t look like its pregnant. There are several other competitors as well, and all of which offer better bang for your buck. The Mophie Juicepack Air, currently being sold at Apple stores internationally, is the same price as the Smart Battery Case, but offers a higher capacity 2750 mAh battery instead. But with the release of the Smart Battery Case, Apple stores may stop selling the Mophie Juicepack for the iPhone 6 and 6s, or any other battery case for that matter.

Overall, this new case represents a reduction in quality from Apple. If Apple releases a slew of other sub-par products following this one, they could risk compromising the integrity of their incredibly solid brand. Luckily for Apple, there will certainly be those who will buy anything Apple sells, just because it has the Apple logo on it. If it weren’t for the name ‘Apple’ being put on the box, this battery case probably wouldn’t sell much. Who wants a lumpy, awkwardly shaped, expensive, low-capacity case when you can easily find something better for much less?

Apple’s iPad Pro bridges the gap between tablet and laptop with the help of some nifty proprietary accessories. Though not totally unoriginal, the iPad Pro is undeniably a response to the Microsoft Surface, which has been out for years now. That’s totally normal though, as Apple and Microsoft have been biting off each other back and forth since their inception. Like the Surface, Apple doesn’t include the iPad Pro’s accessories with the device. We’d have liked to have seen the Smart Keyboard and Apple pencil included, but it’s not surprising.

Apple iPad Pro

Okay, so what exactly is the difference between the iPad and the iPad Pro? The iPad Pro can do anything a normal iPad can do, but its sheer size, more powerful A9X chip and inclusion of the Apple Pencil & Smart Keyboard set it apart. Though it can do everything a tablet can do and more, it can’t do everything a laptop can do, just some things. It doesn’t have a disk drive of course, USB port, memory card slot, HDMI output or a full sized keyboard.

It’s large 12.9” high definition screen is as vibrant as on any other Apple device. It’s incredibly thin at only 6.9mm. It features an 8mp rear camera and a 1.2mp front facing camera that captures 720p video, but let’s face it, the iPad Pro is too big to be holding up in the air and snapping pictures. The iPad Pro comes with 32-128GB of internal storage depending on which model you buy, and all models come with 4GB of RAM.

The graphics processing of the iPad Pro is far superior from the any of the iPads. Its proprietary A9X chip is basically a faster, updated version of what they’re using in the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. As it’s brand new, there are some formatting and support issues with various games and apps, but the vast majority will work fine on the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro’s biggest drawback is that it is completely unadjustable. If you don’t like the viewing angle that it sits at with the Smart Keyboard connected, tough luck. Microsoft’s Surface however is completely adjustable.

As expected, the iPad Pro includes a fingerprint sensor to keep your device secure. Its battery should last around 10 hours with intensive use. It comes in space gray, silver and gold. Retail prices are currently around $640 for just the iPad Pro at 32GB.

Apple Smart KeyboardJust like the Microsoft Surface, the battery-less Smart Keyboard connects magnetically and doubles as a cover for the iPad Pro. Typing is satisfactory as each key is rigid and has a ‘click’ response that you kind of need to feel like you’re actually typing something. It lacks some shortcut keys, a trackpad and palm rest. These things aren’t essential, but their absence takes some getting used to. It costs roughly an extra $140.

Apple Pencil

The approximately 90-dollar Apple Pencil is fantastic for drawing. You can’t really use it like a stylus, though it can do some things. You’ll still need to use your fingers pretty much constantly with the iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil is pressure sensitive, which allows you to shade and use it pretty much the same way you would if you were sketching with a real pencil. But why would you spend $1,000 to do something to can do for less than $1? Undoubtedly, the novelty of the Apple Pencil is attractive enough to draw some artists in, no pun intended. The Apple Pencil is just a neat accessory to have—another example of how fascinated we are by technology imitating real life.

I have the pleasure to review this powerful 6-port wall charger which was sent to me from Hisgadget.. It is a small portable charger which you can connect with every wall. As you can see in the picture above, the device has 6 ports, each giving voltage of 2.4A.

iClever 6-Port Wall Charger

The wall charger from iClever is using smartID technology meaning it “remembers” the input your device needs and if needs lower voltage, it will send the lower voltage needed on the next charge. I personally haven’t seen or heard about this technology before, but I believe it is really useful, as different devices have different charging requirements.

iClever 6-Port Wall Charger Device

From the design perspective, the device has really smooth and nice-to-touch surface. You don’t have to worry if it falls, because it is just a charging dock, so no damage actually to worry about.

Shortly said, this device is really handy if you travel often and you need to take a lot of chargeable devices with you. This charging dock from iClever is built very well, so you don’t have to worry about loose usb ports or bad electricity connection. I would like to thank Hisgadget again for providing me this free sample to review and I really think that for this price the device is offered, it is really useful and worth it.
