Apple’s iPad Pro bridges the gap between tablet and laptop with the help of some nifty proprietary accessories. Though not totally unoriginal, the iPad Pro is undeniably a response to the Microsoft Surface, which has been out for years now. That’s totally normal though, as Apple and Microsoft have been biting off each other back and forth since their inception. Like the Surface, Apple doesn’t include the iPad Pro’s accessories with the device. We’d have liked to have seen the Smart Keyboard and Apple pencil included, but it’s not surprising.

Apple iPad Pro

Okay, so what exactly is the difference between the iPad and the iPad Pro? The iPad Pro can do anything a normal iPad can do, but its sheer size, more powerful A9X chip and inclusion of the Apple Pencil & Smart Keyboard set it apart. Though it can do everything a tablet can do and more, it can’t do everything a laptop can do, just some things. It doesn’t have a disk drive of course, USB port, memory card slot, HDMI output or a full sized keyboard.

It’s large 12.9” high definition screen is as vibrant as on any other Apple device. It’s incredibly thin at only 6.9mm. It features an 8mp rear camera and a 1.2mp front facing camera that captures 720p video, but let’s face it, the iPad Pro is too big to be holding up in the air and snapping pictures. The iPad Pro comes with 32-128GB of internal storage depending on which model you buy, and all models come with 4GB of RAM.

The graphics processing of the iPad Pro is far superior from the any of the iPads. Its proprietary A9X chip is basically a faster, updated version of what they’re using in the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. As it’s brand new, there are some formatting and support issues with various games and apps, but the vast majority will work fine on the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro’s biggest drawback is that it is completely unadjustable. If you don’t like the viewing angle that it sits at with the Smart Keyboard connected, tough luck. Microsoft’s Surface however is completely adjustable.

As expected, the iPad Pro includes a fingerprint sensor to keep your device secure. Its battery should last around 10 hours with intensive use. It comes in space gray, silver and gold. Retail prices are currently around $640 for just the iPad Pro at 32GB.

Apple Smart KeyboardJust like the Microsoft Surface, the battery-less Smart Keyboard connects magnetically and doubles as a cover for the iPad Pro. Typing is satisfactory as each key is rigid and has a ‘click’ response that you kind of need to feel like you’re actually typing something. It lacks some shortcut keys, a trackpad and palm rest. These things aren’t essential, but their absence takes some getting used to. It costs roughly an extra $140.

Apple Pencil

The approximately 90-dollar Apple Pencil is fantastic for drawing. You can’t really use it like a stylus, though it can do some things. You’ll still need to use your fingers pretty much constantly with the iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil is pressure sensitive, which allows you to shade and use it pretty much the same way you would if you were sketching with a real pencil. But why would you spend $1,000 to do something to can do for less than $1? Undoubtedly, the novelty of the Apple Pencil is attractive enough to draw some artists in, no pun intended. The Apple Pencil is just a neat accessory to have—another example of how fascinated we are by technology imitating real life.

Along with the iPad Air 2 it was released the iPad Mini 3. There is not really much to say about the iPad Mini 3 if you read our iPad Air 2 review you already know everything about the iPad Mini 3 and what can do. The iPad Mini 3 is essentially the same thing but simply smaller. And it has aonly 2 changes according to the previous generation iPad Mini 2.

Design

The iPad Mini 3 is 7.5 mm thin and weights 331 g. (341 g. for the 3G/LTE version). The size of the screen is 7.9 inches Retina Display with a resolution of 1536 x 2048. Here is the first change – you get the touch ID sensor. It comes in Space Gray, Silver, Gold – and here is the second change. The iPad Mini 2 comes in Space Gray and Silver, and now you can get the Gold version.

iPad Mini 3 Design

Hardware

The new Mini 3 features Apple A7 Dual-core CPU, 1 GB of RAM and PowerVR G6430 quad-core graphics. It comes in 16, 64, 128 GB of storage. The camera is 5 MP, shoots photos in 2592×1944 resolution and videos in 1080p 30fps. The front-facing camera is 1.2 MP, shooting videos at 720p 30 fps. The battery is 6471 mAh and lasts you all day. The hardware specs are the same as the iPad Mini 2.

iPad Mini 3 Hardware

Software

It comes with iOS 8.1 upgradable to the latest version for now. The iOS runs really smooth and we haven’t met any glitches or lags in using for a period of time.

Conclusion

The iPad Mini 3 is not bad but Apple didn’t made a big upgrade according to the previous generation. I think it’s not worth it to spend nearly $100 more for a Gold iPad Mini with Touch ID. This is our review, this is our view so you decide if it’s worth it.

The iPad Air 2 is the thinnest tablet Apple has ever made. There’s an incredibly crowded tablet market and I think the iPad Air 2 is the best one out there.

Design

The iPad Air 2 is thinner and lighter than the first iPad Air 0.43 grams and 6.1 mm thin, thinner than any other tablet out there. It is completely made of metal and has rounded side. It kind of feels that the display is attached to almost nothing at this point. The fact that is also lighter means it’s just as easy as any other tablet to hold in the hand and it’s much easier to hold with one hand and type and poke with the other hand. The side bezels are thinned out a little but there’s still plenty of room to rest your thumb so. The disadvantage with the new thinner and lighter iPad is that the mute switch that has been on the side of every single iPad and iPhone since the beginning is now gone. It’s been replaced with their software toggle it in the quick settings of iOS 8. I don’t think the tablet is too thin for this I think is a decide decision by Apple.

iPad Air 2 Tablet

Battery

The other downside of going so thin and light is this space and size are a little bit smaller and that means you have a smaller battery. It’s still a great battery life for a tablet. I didn’t even notice any difference in the battery life. The tablet lasts you all day. But it has this 15% smaller battery. You should be mad at Apple for sacrificing battery just to make it thinner !

iPad Air 2 Battery

Display

One of the biggest and best improvements on the iPad Air 2. It’s still a Retina display and it still has the same 4:3 aspect ratio and 2048 by 1536 resolution, great colors and color reproduction, brightness levels and etc. Now this display is fully-laminated display which actually ironically means less air between the glass and the panel. So this and the new anti-reflecting coating is supposed to give the new screen a much more glare free look  at the images closer to the surface of the glass and actually thought it pretty much seem I was touching the pixels, like the image was floating right on top of the iPad as I touched. The Retina display looks great

iPad Air 2 Gold

Performance

The Air 2 Is rocking Apple’s new A8 X chip, powered by the motion M8 chip, which is their best mobile chip yet, and without getting too technical it’s essentially a triple core, three core processor and you also now finally for the first time in Apple tablet history get 2 GB of RAM. The A8X chip – it’s incredible, it’s super powerful, it’s really thermally efficient this tablet basically never heats up on me and it powers iOS 8 as smoothly as you’d expect. They upgraded the camera to an even better 8 MP, essentially the exact same optics as the iPhone 5S. You also get Touch ID now, the fingerprint sensor over the home button which you use it to unlock your tablet. The speaker on the iPad which is very very very loud so it’s actually so loud that it vibrates the entire tablet. It’s not the best quality in the world but the loudness is impressive.

Apple A8X System

Conclusion

So overall you got to admit that the iPad Air 2 is pretty sweet. I made this review so you can think if it’s worth upgrading from Air to Air 2. I personally would say, for some people it’s good, but again it’s up to you.
