At the IFA 2015, Toshiba gave us a peek at a beautiful new prototype in the works which has yet to have an official name. The prototype, simply referred to as “the Dynabook,” is incredibly thin and sleek. It comes in two forms, a hybrid with a detachable keyboard, or a tablet. It’ll run Windows 10 and include TruNote, TruRecorder and TruCapture. The prototype is meant to be the digital form of a pen and paper for “quickly and effectively capturing information,” says Toshiba. Nifty indeed.

Toshiba Dynabook StylusThough details are still sketchy, here’s what else has been confirmed so far. The Dynabook will harbor an Intel Atom processor (most likely either the x5-Z8500 or the 8700), and feature a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It will utilize a digitizing stylus, which attaches to the side of the tablet, and will also include a touchpad. The Dynabook also comes with front and rear cameras, an audio connector, a micro SD card slot, and a mini-HDMI one port.

The Dynabook looks somewhat similar to some products already on the market, such as 2012 Archos 101 XS or one of Microsoft’s Surface models, but there is at least one notable difference between them and the Dynabook. The Dynabook’s detachable keyboard attaches to the tablet magnetically. That prevents the user from turning the tablet vertically and still using the keyboard—a strange move considering that the positioning of the cameras and Toshiba logo suggest that the tablet is meant to be operated vertically in the first place. Let’s keep in mind though that the new Dynabook is still just a prototype, and there may be some kinks for Toshiba to work out before it hits the streets.

Apple’s iPad Pro could have some hefty competition when Toshiba drops their attractive new Dynabook. The price and release date are still unknown, but this ultra thin machine could be out in time for the holiday season.

I decided to make a small collection of some really innovative and beautiful hybrid devices, which maybe most of us have never seen, but still they could be really useful to a lot of people.

The Acer Aspire R7

Acer Aspire R7Though maybe a bit strange, the Acer Aspire R7 introduces a new way of using the hybrid tablets and ultrabooks. With some really good technical specifications and a beautiful design, this hybrid is maybe worth more than it seems to be. Why? With extras like an HDMI port, card read, super fast Intel Core i5/i7 CPU and SSD, this device is obviously worth it!

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro

Lenovo Yoga 3 ProDo you think I would miss a hybrid ultrabook, that is even thinner than the new MacBook? Of course, no! This device is obviously worth it and in this review about the Yoga 3 Pro, Tony is explaining us why this device is really awesome. I personally think that this device is one of the best for its kind and comparable to devices like the Surface Pro tablets, but still is in a much different category.

Toshiba U920T

Toshiba U920TThough maybe not one of the most successful players in this market, I must admit that Toshiba has brought some innovation here. I really like it when people bring new stuff on the market and do not repeat their technology, because wanting more money for the same thing but with more marketing, does not make any sense, I just hate it. Toshiba has deserved it’s place here and I would like to say that the technical specifications of this hybrid ultrabook are not bad at all.

Dell XPS Duo

Dell XPS DuoA regular laptop with the size and possibilities of a tablet, this is the Dell XPS Duo. The design is handsome and in some cases really useful, the size of a 12″ puts it in the category of big tablets, rather than the small ultrabooks, but still the technical specifications of this device can make it compete with some other ultrabooks as well. The only disadvantage here is the weight, well that’s understandable, making new stuff, we cannot have everything we want.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 – A Business Hybrid http://reviewtech.info/microsoft-surface-pro-3-a-business-hybrid/ http://reviewtech.info/microsoft-surface-pro-3-a-business-hybrid/#respond Sun, 22 Mar 2015 06:48:19 +0000 http://reviewtech.info/?p=267 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the #1 business tablet released. Learn how this tablet could really enhance your daily business productivity

The Microsoft Surface tablets are the most successful tablet devices from Microsoft. The Pro version has always been better than the normal Windows RT one. I would like to take a look at the awesome hybrid Microsoft Surface Pro 3, one of the most productive tablets having technical specifications of a laptop, but looking like a pure business tablet.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 TabletMicrosoft is improving the Pro version and with this latest models, the tablet is really thinner and with a bigger display. Though the device is created as a laptop replacement, in my personal opinion it is just a tablet with increased performance and productivity. Running desktop software like Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and others is what makes this tablet special for me, I cannot do this on any android device, that’s why the Surface Pro 3 takes the first place when it comes to a business tablet. Let’s have a look at the technical specifications of the tablet, they are literally comparable to the one of a modern laptop.

CPU

A dual-core Intel i5 4th generation is what makes this tablet to think so fast. With up to 2.9Ghz turbo boost, the CPU is capable of running all applications you would use on a tablet. In combination with the 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, running multiple application should not be a problem for the Microsoft tablet.

Display

The display of the Microsoft Pro 3 is a really impressive one, a 12” screen with the resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. I must admit that the display is obviously better than the most tablet displays out there, though 1440p is a new tendency in all android devices.

Storage

The Surface Pro 3 comes with up 256GB SSD, which is a feature we even barely see in some notebooks. Microsoft wanted to be sure there will be a fast storage for a better performance, so they put an SSD inside. I also think that the 256GB are more than enough for every powerful tablet user out there. In case you want to increase this store, the tablet has a USB 3.0 port and even a micro SDXC card reader (up to 128GB).

Graphics

Unfortunately there is no nVidia GeForce GPU inside, maybe because the tablet is really thin and lightweight. The Microsoft Pro 3 has the Intel HD 4400 as a GPU installed, which is of course not that bad, it is actually perfect for a tablet, being able to even play light Windows 8 3D games.

Extras

I already mentioned the card reader and the usb port, the tablet has also two cameras, 5MP each being able to capture 1080p video (just perfect for Skype). Bluetooth 4.0 is also installed on this device.

The tablet has also a really lightweight keyboard, which I find really beautiful, but not that comfortable to write with, but still it is a big advantage for this device, as most of the tablet have actually no keyboard.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Review

Conclusion

The Surface Pro 3 is an undisputed winner for the business class tablets. With the right software like Microsoft Office and some Adobe tools, you could easily increase your productivity by using this hybrid tablet. The price of this device is varying, depends on the internal memory you need. There are also versions with Intel i7 installed, but this is for people who have money and want the most of it. In Europe you could buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 for a less than 900 eur and in USA for a price around $1,000.

I do recommend this device for people who need a device to increase their productivity and business, but I would not recommend it for people who want to play games and do various of stuff with their tablet. If you have chosen the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, you need to know that this is a tablet from the business class, not for the Apple or Android fanboys who are using their devices for multimedia and games.
