Announced in March this year, the LG Watch Urbane is a really classy smartwatch which is going to impress you. From first sight you may think that this is just another smart watch, but I hope you change your mind in the end.
So what makes this device so special? Take a look at the photo first. It looks like an ordinary premium watch, but it is not. It has custom OS from LG installed and is filled with various useful apps. I would like to share some technical specifications, so you get a better image of this little device.
Display
The display is made with P-OLED technology, capable of showing around 16 million colours. Well in short the display is not bad at all, it is 1.3″ big, has a resolution of 320x320px and is touch sensitive, multi-touch.
System
The details here are really interesting, especially when talking about the OS. The OS is from LG Wearable and is running on a quad-core CPU with 1.2ghz frequency. Seems to be really powerful for such a small display. Also in a combination with 1GB of RAM, everything should run smoothly. But here comes another question… how does the battery perform?
Depending whether you have the LTE version or not, the battery varies, 700mAh for LTE and 300mAh for non-LTE. Performance should be good, bearing in mind the P-OLED technology behind the display.
Extras
As already mentioned, the LG Watch Urbane comes in two versions – LTE and non-LTE. Both versions support nano sim cards and also have WiFi built-in. Other extras like accelerometer, heart rate and barometer are also built in this device.
The internal memory is 4GB, which makes me ask “damn, why?”.
Another cool thing is that the smart watch is water resistant – up to 1.5 meters.
I personally think this is a way too modificated smart watch. It seems like a normal watch, but so much memory and such a cpu are not needed for a small device. This one has sim card support, which means it handles conversations easily, but what is the point behind putting such a hardware? It is understandable that this watch is made to be classy, also the hardware used makes the device a bit expensive, but I personally hope the price falls down after a couple of months.
Check Current Price on Amazon – LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTESo to conclude I would say that this is a really classy device, taking it’s place in the battle of the smart watches, but LG could have done better. The technical specifications are impressive for such a small device, maybe that was the goal of LG, but I would not buy it as a watch. If you are willing to buy it, better take a look at the Apple Watch or Pebble Watch.

The device has really good design and impressive technical specifications, but this is not everything that make a smart watch really smart.
