Today we are going to take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The Alpha is very similar to other Samsung phones and it may even look like many doubts you know for slightly improved Galaxy S V. Let’s take a look.
Design
The material choice and the on hand are the big focus here. Samsung have done that redesign by adding a metal band all the way around the frame of the phone where they use plastic before. So now when you hold the phone you are holding metal and it has really big difference in the way it feels. That band is chamfered everywhere. The power button it chamfered and the volume buttons are separated and chamfered and they are very clicky. It is really improved. Actually it reminds me of the iPhone 5S in a lof of ways. If you flip it over to the back and suddenly it’s the same old Samsung again. It’s plastic soft-touch removable back just like the older phone. Don’t get me wrong, removable battery is great, you can access to the removable battery, there’s no additional storage. The material itself as you are constantly touching on the back does not feel nearly as premium as the metal that surrounds it.
Performance
It has some PC specifications. It has LTE-A, OCTA Core processor, it has 2 GB of RAM, all usual sensors, gyroscope and etc. But the camera drops to a 12 MP instead of the new improved 16 MP one of its brothers. Features a heart-sensor on the back next to the camera and a fingerprint sensor on the home button.
Display
A 4.7 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×720 and 720P pentile display which is not really as good as other 4.7 inch display phones. This display is OLED and yes it’s very vibrant and saturated and it does get pretty bright. So it’s kind of pleasing but when you look close it definitely breaks down.
Battery
It has a 1860 mAh power battery and battery life similar to the Moto X.
Conclusion
It leaves you with this incomplete feeling about whether is supposed to feel fully premium or just partially premium, and is not a flagship with the slightly bumped down 12 MP camera, even know megapixels don’t mean everything it’s all to the sensors. But that’s not going to stop a lot this device is still great, still feels great, still looks great, performance is also really smooth when combined of course with that high-end chipset, high-end graphics 2 GB of RAM and 720 P display, and overall the software experience is very similar to the Galaxy S V. I really like the size of this phone very good fit in hand with a 4.7 inch display.
The Alpha is definitely an improved phone it feels much better feeling in the hand than the Galaxy S V. But it’s so similar to the other phones.
