Sony Xperia Z2 Review

I recently bought the Sony Xperia Z2 and I decided to make it a review, so everybody can see how great this device actually is. Now I first would like to point out that this is not the most expensive, the cheapest or the best smartphone ever, but for it’s price, it fits perfectly in my budget and that’s why the Sony Xperia Z2 became my choice.

When I first showed it to friends of mine, their first impression was literally – “Wow, this is a beautiful phone”. Well the design is one of the factors that are really important to me when choosing a smartphone and here we can see that that the Xperia Z2 is obviously a really good one.

I will be really honest here and I am going to describe the advantages and disadvantages of the phone. The Sony Xperia Z2 is doing great job for me, I am not disappointed at all from the device, but it has its minuses as any other device.

Advantages

OS

The operating system is Android. My previous phone was Windows Phone. Nothing more to say here. This advantage is a big one for me when comparing to my previous phone.

Performance

The difference between my previous phone and the Xperia Z2 when it comes to performance is huge. The Xperia Z2 has 3GB of RAM and a really fast quad-core CPU, which makes the phone really fast. I think that the Xperia series are one of the first devices out there with 3GB of ram, which is some kind of advantage. I’ve never found them slow, but I find them really beautiful.

Design

As I have already mentioned, the design of the phone is a really good one, both sides are covered with glass, making it a really stylish device. When I heard from a friend owning the iPhone 6 that she finds the Xperia more beautiful, I knew that I have chosen the right smartphone. The phone is not super thin, but it is a 5.2” one with Full HD display, which gives me much better screen picture than my previous phone. The camera of my previous Lumia 1020 was like 3-4mm outside of the phone and this ruined the whole design of the Lumia, but here I don’t have such problems, the Xperia Z2 is clean, beautiful and fast.

Disadvantages

Camera

Though the camera is better than the one in the most devices out there, it sux. I got used to my 40mpx Lumia 1020 and with the RAW quality of the pictures, I reached DSLR level of picture quality, which is uncomparable to the one from smartphones. But still I am able to shoot 4K videos, though the camera overheats fast. With a lot of shooting modes, I would say the user experience here is much better, though the quality of the pictures is not surprising for me.

Toughness

As a previous Lumia owner, I got used to having my phone dropped everywhere and still not having it broken. Well with the Sony Xperia Z2 it is not like that, here the first drop would obviously scratch or even break on of the glasses. This is a big disadvantage for me, because I am not a person who would take superb-care for his smartphone, that’s why I got Smartphone Insurance so I can sleep well.

Conclusion

I am really glad of having the Xperia Z2 and am not disappointed of the device, bearing in mind it’s price, quality and purpose. Like any other smartphone, the Z2 has its disadvantages as well, but the advantages were more important for me, as they made me buy the phone.

The design is one of the most beautiful phone designs ever I’ve seen and as a user going from Windows Phone to Android, I would say I feel like I am reborn. The performance of the smartphone is outstanding – no lag noticed, yet.

So if you are looking for a middle class smartphone, which can make the Apple users jealous, you should choose the Xperia Z2, as this phone is really stylish, beautiful and not that expensive at the moment, because of the coming Z4 and already released Z3.
