If you’re an amateur or even professional photographer, having the best laptop for photo editing that you can get will be a huge advantage. The speed and efficiently of your machine will be important when trying to edit and adjust high quality pictures with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or any other photo editing software.

Key things to keep in mind when shopping for a laptop for photo editing are graphics, processing speed, screen quality, RAM, and storage capacity. You should make sure your computer is powerful enough to edit high quality images without any lag or delay, while having a high resolution screen and graphics card that can work together to do each image justice. A high amount of RAM will support any multitasking and help make sure your processes always run smoothly. An SSD is also recommended so that your computer can more quickly retrieve program and media files during use. Make sure you have enough storage as well for all of the files you’ll be saving.

Here are the top eight best photo editing laptops on the market today:

OS X Retina display vs Windows

Mac’s main advantage over Windows when it comes to picture editing is their proprietary Retina display, which looks fantastic. The “Retina display” is Apple’s term for a screen with high enough resolution to make pixels virtually invisible to the naked eye. Images from a Mac with retina display are meant to appear as if you’re looking at a printed photograph.

Windows is available on plenty of machines with very high resolution. The term “Retina display” is a very clever way of presenting existing technology as something exclusive to Apple products. To Apple’s credit, their Retina display is quite impressive and that’s why they’re number one on our list.

Apple Macbook Pro MJLQ2LL/A 15-inch Laptop

Apple Macbook Pro MJLQ2LL-A 15-inch LaptopMacbook Pro is one of the best all around computers in the world, if not the best. They pack any incredibly fast and powerful GPU, and are extremely well built. The color gamut on the Macbook Pro is excellent. It makes pictures look accurate and realistic. Coupled with Retina display’s elimination of visible pixels, the Macbook Pro offers one of the best viewing experiences on the market.

While the newest iMac’s Retina display boasts an amazing 5K display, the portability and compact form of the Macbook Pro allows on the spot photo adjustments from anywhere. The Macbook Pro and iMac meet in the middle on pricing depending on which model you choose, with the option to get a Macbook for up to $600 cheaper.

The 15.4” screen of the Macbook Pro has a crisp 2880 x 1800 resolution. It comes in three available flash memory and spec options, with 512GB being the highest capacity storage. It’s stocked with a 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with turbo boost up to 3.4GHz, 16GB DDR3L RAM, and Intel Iris Pro Graphics. You can order the 256 GB, 15.4” Macbook Pro for approx. $1,800.

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G-71P5 17.3-Inch Full HD Laptop

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G-71P5 17.3-Inch Full HD LaptopContaining an Intel Core i7-4710HQ with 2.5 GHz processing speed that turbo boosts up to 3.5 GHz, its light and thin size makes it far more convenient to bring around. Like the Alienware, it has an extra large 17.3 inch screen, but the Aspire V17 only has a 1920 x 1080 FHD screen. The V17 comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M, which may be slightly lesser than what the previous two on our list are using, but still packs enough punch to bring you a smooth and efficient photo editing experience. 16 GB of RAM, and storage that includes a 1 TB 5400 rpm hard drive with a 256 GB solid-state drive gives it plenty of memory around the board.

The Acer Aspire V17 comes with Windows 8.1 which is upgradable to Windows 10, and a backlit keyboard. This easily portable laptop is available for roughly $2,000.

Alienware AW17R3-4175SLV 17.3-Inch FHD Laptop

Alienware AW17R3-4175SLV 17.3-Inch FHD LaptopMany would consider Alienware to be the best company for finding the most powerful and efficient Windows computer. Designed to handle the most state of the art graphics, and with an overhaul each year, Alienware laptops offer some of the best portable computing power money can buy. The Alienware 17 comes with a 6th generation Core i7 and either 16 or 8 GB of RAM. It’s also available in two resolution sizes from 3840 x 2160 UHD to 1920 x 1080 FHD. For storage, it includes a 1 TB HDD + 256 GB SATA SSD, significantly more space than the Macbook Pro. It has the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M graphics, and ships with Windows 10 preinstalled.

At 8.3 lbs, the Alienware 17 is rather heavy. The extra weight affects its portability, but nonetheless, it can be moved from place to place without a problem. If you’re used to a thin and light portable computer though, be aware that the Alienware 17 is beastly.

Every few years, windows releases new updates that overhauls the existing operating system. Their latest release, Windows 10 is no different. Like all operating systems, the Windows 10 is no stranger to common issues and problems.

If you are a Windows 10 user and you’ve encountered a few kinks along the way, read on for solutions to the most common Windows 10 problems.

Issue: Installation and Update Problems

Solution: One of the top issues with the new Windows 10 is being unable to install the operating system. Some users who are updating from previous Windows versions like Windows 7 and 8 have also been having difficulty installing the new platform. The first step is to always check if your component is even compatible with the new update. Check system requirements and ensure that your computer meets all requirements. Next is to check if you have available memory. The Windows 10 needs at least 16GB-20GB of memory. If issues and errors are still encountered, Simon Handy and Rene Millman of I.T. Pro says here is what you should do:

Open Control Panel, run Windows Update and ensure that the PC is fully up to date. If updates fail, run the Windows Update Troubleshooter (see below, number 3)

Use the Media Creation Tool. Don’t rely on GWX: visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10, click Download tool now, save the tool and run it on the PC you want to upgrade. If this didn’t work for you back when Windows 10 launched, try it again now – the tool has been improved.

Make sure that hardware Disable Execution Prevention (DEP) is switched on in the BIOS, referring to your motherboard manual for help if you need it. If you still have problems, use the Start Menu to search for ‘performance’, run Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows, click the Data Execution Prevention tab and turn DEP on for all programs and services, then reboot and try again.

Issue: Google Chrome and Windows 10 Compatibility

Solution: For Chrome users, some have reported that upon updating or installing the new platform, their Google Chrome browser would freeze and crash. This was never a problem in previous operating systems. Some have even noted that upon launching Chrome, error notifications would appear saying that plugins are no longer working.

Users have made sure to amend the issue by making sure that their Chrome is up to date. Run an update check on your browser so that your Chrome is finally compatible with Windows 10. Some users suggest to use Incognito mode as a short term fix for the issue.

Issue: Wi-Fi Connectivity

Solution: After installation and update to the latest Windows operating system, some users have been riddled with error notifications such as “No Internet Connection” or upon turning on their Wi-Fi, no signal is detected even if a stable and nearby connection is present. A cause of this is that the drivers and components of the wireless adapter is still not compatible with the latest Windows 10. The best solution is to reinstall and update your Wi-Fi drivers and ensure that you have the supported VPN software.

Issue: Slow rebooting

Solution: Have you found yourself waiting countless minutes for your Windows 10 to reboot? Worried that your computer may be sluggish due to the lack of space and ram? Worry not because that isn’t the problem. A simple reason as to why rebooting can be slow us because of your computer’s startup settings. You may have too many programs that are enabled to run upon startup. This causes your system to take more time to reboot. Another reason is the presence of malware in your computer. A simple virus scan and clean up can solve this. To disable programs that run during startup, select the startup tab in your task manager and disable all programs that have high impact in your startup.

Issue: Playing DVDs

Solution: Upon the release of the Windows 10, some users have had difficulty in playing DVDs or Blu-ray. Some says this is because Windows 10 does not include any application to play DVDs. A quick solution is to download a third-part app that enables the support of DVDs and Blu-ray. There are paid apps that you may download but the best in the market is the free app called VLC.

At the IFA 2015, Toshiba gave us a peek at a beautiful new prototype in the works which has yet to have an official name. The prototype, simply referred to as “the Dynabook,” is incredibly thin and sleek. It comes in two forms, a hybrid with a detachable keyboard, or a tablet. It’ll run Windows 10 and include TruNote, TruRecorder and TruCapture. The prototype is meant to be the digital form of a pen and paper for “quickly and effectively capturing information,” says Toshiba. Nifty indeed.

Toshiba Dynabook StylusThough details are still sketchy, here’s what else has been confirmed so far. The Dynabook will harbor an Intel Atom processor (most likely either the x5-Z8500 or the 8700), and feature a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It will utilize a digitizing stylus, which attaches to the side of the tablet, and will also include a touchpad. The Dynabook also comes with front and rear cameras, an audio connector, a micro SD card slot, and a mini-HDMI one port.

The Dynabook looks somewhat similar to some products already on the market, such as 2012 Archos 101 XS or one of Microsoft’s Surface models, but there is at least one notable difference between them and the Dynabook. The Dynabook’s detachable keyboard attaches to the tablet magnetically. That prevents the user from turning the tablet vertically and still using the keyboard—a strange move considering that the positioning of the cameras and Toshiba logo suggest that the tablet is meant to be operated vertically in the first place. Let’s keep in mind though that the new Dynabook is still just a prototype, and there may be some kinks for Toshiba to work out before it hits the streets.

Apple’s iPad Pro could have some hefty competition when Toshiba drops their attractive new Dynabook. The price and release date are still unknown, but this ultra thin machine could be out in time for the holiday season.

The variety of Windows laptops out there is almost endless. Unlike Apple, Windows operating system is featured on thousands of different products in different sizes with different specs. We’ve got it narrowed down here to three of the most popular brands that each offers a wide selection of Windows laptops.

Acer is a Taiwanese company that’s been around since 1976. As of 2015, they’re the 6th largest computer vendor in the world.
Founded in 1989, Asus is also a Taiwanese brand. They’re the 4th largest vendor, specializing in notebooks and ultraportables.
Lenovo hails from Beijing, China. Founded in ‘84, they are the number one personal computer vendor in the world with 19.8% of the market share. Number two, three, and five are HP, Dell, and Apple respectively.

All three of these companies have some excellent models on the market. That’s not to say that every laptop they make is a 5-star masterpiece, but all three of them are well regarded. Here we’ll compare three products from each and see which brand makes the best all around laptop computer.

It features design from both manufacturers and presents a relatively original hybrid product due to its mix of features from each company. As a result, the keyboard set up is somewhat unconventional and can be hard to get used to. The LaVie Z 360 can be used as a tablet as well as a laptop and is quite thin and easily portable.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 – A Business Hybrid http://reviewtech.info/microsoft-surface-pro-3-a-business-hybrid/ http://reviewtech.info/microsoft-surface-pro-3-a-business-hybrid/#respond Sun, 22 Mar 2015 06:48:19 +0000 http://reviewtech.info/?p=267 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the #1 business tablet released. Learn how this tablet could really enhance your daily business productivity

The post Microsoft Surface Pro 3 – A Business Hybrid appeared first on Review Tech.

]]>
The Microsoft Surface tablets are the most successful tablet devices from Microsoft. The Pro version has always been better than the normal Windows RT one. I would like to take a look at the awesome hybrid Microsoft Surface Pro 3, one of the most productive tablets having technical specifications of a laptop, but looking like a pure business tablet.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 TabletMicrosoft is improving the Pro version and with this latest models, the tablet is really thinner and with a bigger display. Though the device is created as a laptop replacement, in my personal opinion it is just a tablet with increased performance and productivity. Running desktop software like Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and others is what makes this tablet special for me, I cannot do this on any android device, that’s why the Surface Pro 3 takes the first place when it comes to a business tablet. Let’s have a look at the technical specifications of the tablet, they are literally comparable to the one of a modern laptop.

CPU

A dual-core Intel i5 4th generation is what makes this tablet to think so fast. With up to 2.9Ghz turbo boost, the CPU is capable of running all applications you would use on a tablet. In combination with the 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, running multiple application should not be a problem for the Microsoft tablet.

Display

The display of the Microsoft Pro 3 is a really impressive one, a 12” screen with the resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. I must admit that the display is obviously better than the most tablet displays out there, though 1440p is a new tendency in all android devices.

Storage

The Surface Pro 3 comes with up 256GB SSD, which is a feature we even barely see in some notebooks. Microsoft wanted to be sure there will be a fast storage for a better performance, so they put an SSD inside. I also think that the 256GB are more than enough for every powerful tablet user out there. In case you want to increase this store, the tablet has a USB 3.0 port and even a micro SDXC card reader (up to 128GB).

Graphics

Unfortunately there is no nVidia GeForce GPU inside, maybe because the tablet is really thin and lightweight. The Microsoft Pro 3 has the Intel HD 4400 as a GPU installed, which is of course not that bad, it is actually perfect for a tablet, being able to even play light Windows 8 3D games.

Extras

I already mentioned the card reader and the usb port, the tablet has also two cameras, 5MP each being able to capture 1080p video (just perfect for Skype). Bluetooth 4.0 is also installed on this device.

The tablet has also a really lightweight keyboard, which I find really beautiful, but not that comfortable to write with, but still it is a big advantage for this device, as most of the tablet have actually no keyboard.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Review

Conclusion

The Surface Pro 3 is an undisputed winner for the business class tablets. With the right software like Microsoft Office and some Adobe tools, you could easily increase your productivity by using this hybrid tablet. The price of this device is varying, depends on the internal memory you need. There are also versions with Intel i7 installed, but this is for people who have money and want the most of it. In Europe you could buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 for a less than 900 eur and in USA for a price around $1,000.

I do recommend this device for people who need a device to increase their productivity and business, but I would not recommend it for people who want to play games and do various of stuff with their tablet. If you have chosen the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, you need to know that this is a tablet from the business class, not for the Apple or Android fanboys who are using their devices for multimedia and games.
