Pebble Watch & Pebble Time Review

Since I heard so much positive comments about these watches, I decided to have a look at the devices and make a short review for them. The big advantages of these smart watches is the long lasting battery, good price, water resistance and good communication with both iOS and Android. Let’s have a closer look at the Pebble Watch first and see why is it so awesome

Pebble Watch – Technical specifications

The battery of the Pebble Watch is only 140mAh, but it lasts up to 7 days with a single charge, a feature that a lot of other watches do not have. The screen size is 1.26 inches with a resolution of 144 by 168 pixels. The Pebble Watch is made of plastic, which should not be a big problem, bearing in mind its low price. The display is not a touchscreen one, but this is what makes its battery durable. The device communicates perfectly with iPhone and any Android phone.

Though this watch is not round, in my opinion the design is not bad at all, but can be improved. Obviously the Pebble Watch is missing some of the important features for a smart watch nowadays – call answer and dialing, some notifications and development SDK (unfortunately nobody can develop apps for this device).

Pebble Time – Design and specifications

The Pebble Time is a steel/leather version of the Pebble Watch with various improvements. Here we see a microphone for notifications response, color e-paper display and timeline interface. While keeping the features that made the previous version successful like water resistance and battery life, the Pebble Time brings various improvements and better design.

The price is a bit higher though, it is still unofficial as the device is not released yet, but we expect it to be around 300 euros, much more expensive than the 120 eur Pebble Watch.

With its promising design and quality, over 6,500+ apps and battery life, I really hope that the device is worth it, though here the screen remains non-touch as in the previous model.

Conclusion

Pebble Watch is a really good smart watch, but I can’t really tell how smart it really is. The battery life is obviously great, which makes it a choice to thousands of users out there. The Pebble Time offers big design and technical improvements, but still does not give us the real smartwatch experience as we have seen from Moto 360, Huawei Watch or Apple Watch.

The Pebble devices have another big advantage – their price. The starting price of both watches is quite low comparing to the other watch devices. Another good feature is that the Pebble works with both iOS and Android which is something unique, as most of the smart watches work with only one operating system.

If you are a businessman looking for a new modern watch, I would not recommend the Pebble, as its design is not round and nothing so stylish and classy. But if you are looking for a watch with some extras and you are also on a limited budget, I really recommend the Pebble devices, as they have really good features.
